Scholarship policy

The United Utilities, Inc. (UUI) family, including Unicom and United-KUC, are interested in assisting Alaska's future leaders to receive the best education possible.  We offer 150 scholarships to qualified students each year.

Eligible Students 

Applicants must: 

•    live in a location where UUI provides communications services;

•    be a senior who will graduate this year or already have a high school diploma, or currently attending college;

•    be a full/part time at college, university, or vocational/trade school;

•    have at least 2.0 GPA

Scholarship Award amounts:

The amount of the award is $2,000 per year.  The scholarship dollars will be paid directly to the education institution only.  Scholarship recipients must provide your educational institutions with a copy of awarded letter and have they bill us directly.  The scholarship amount is for tuition, books, and fees only.

Application Instruction: 

Applicant must submit the following:

•   Complete the application form and personal essay describing your future plans and goals.

•    An official copy of your high school grade transcripts or a copy of semester/terms you have most recently completed.

Completed application must be received and postmarked by April 9, 2010. Students may also apply by mail or by dropping off their information at our Bethel office at 109 Blackberry Street, Bethel, AK 99559.
